Laptop Riddim – Infinite Recordz

Pamputtae’s “Hotta Than Them” gives the Laptop Riddim its sharpest jolt, her voice cutting right through the compact 2012 Infinite Recordz set with the kind of bite that made her one of dancehall’s more exciting names around that time. Tiwony’s “Africa Is Calling” pulls the same riddim into a more roots-conscious corner, and that contrast is part of the charm here: one pattern, two very different moods, both sitting neatly on a tight four-track package that also includes Voicemail’s “Laptop” and the version. Infinite Recordz keeps the production lean and rubbery, with enough bounce in the drums and low end to let the vocals do the work, and the whole thing feels like a small-time internet-era dancehall gem; even the title has that faintly playful, late-2000s tech-house-ring to it.
