KALLIWA RIDDIM produced by KALLIWA MUSIK 1996
Kalliwa Overview
In 1996, the reggae world felt a new energy when the dub version of Kalliwa Riddim arrived. The journey began in the studio, where the sound architect shaped a deep, echoing landscape. Every layer of bass and drum was carefully crafted to honor the roots reggae tradition, yet the production added a modern dub twist. The producer behind it all, KALLIWA MUSIK, is known for guiding projects that mix classic reggae with fresh ideas. KALLIWA MUSIK’s influence can be heard across several respected releases, and the Kalliwa label has built a steady following among roots and dub fans. As the riddim took form, three artists brought their unique voices to the project. Johnny Clarke, a legend in roots reggae, delivered "Leggo Babylon" with his signature smooth vocals. Clarke is well known for his 1970s hits and his album "Rockers Time Now," which helped define the era. Macka B joined in with "Rasta Rise Again," bringing his conscious lyrics and strong delivery. Macka B is recognized for his work with Mad Professor and for winning the British Reggae Industry Award for Best DJ in 1991. Kalliwa Music added their own touch with "Kalliwa Riddim," tying the project together with a pure instrumental cut. The final release echoed the spirit of 1996 roots reggae, blending tradition and innovation. Fans still remember the dub cut for its deep grooves and powerful message, marking it as a favorite in reggae’s rich history.
