Kaia Riddim – Little Rock Sound

A warm, rootsy pulse runs through Kaia Riddim, with Little Rock Sound keeping the groove patient and steady while the vocalists move between uplift, social commentary, and straight lovers-rock and steppers energy. Soom T’s “Bless Me Jah” and Natty Jean’s “Ready” sit nicely against Skarra Mucci’s “Strictly Reggae, ” while Fab’s “What Don’t We Understand” pushes the message-side of the project a little harder. The sequence is spread across eight vocal cuts and closes out with “Kaia (dub), ” a neat touch that lets the rhythm breathe on its own. Released in 2021, the set runs nine tracks in all.
