Junction Overview
In 2014, reggae music saw a new project that brought together modern artists and classic reggae energy. This project was built around a rhythm called Junction Riddim. It was produced by Lustre Kings Productions, a label known for supporting roots reggae and conscious music. Lustre Kings Productions has worked with many respected reggae artists and helped keep roots reggae alive in the modern era. The Junction Riddim project featured a range of artists, each bringing their own style. Jahdan Blakkmoore, known for blending reggae with hip hop, delivered “For The Children.” Lutan Fyah, a strong voice in contemporary roots reggae, performed “Up In The Hills.” Johnny Osbourne, a legendary singer famous for hits like “Buddy Bye,” contributed “We Steppin’.” Angela Hunte, who co-wrote the hit “Empire State of Mind” for Jay-Z and Alicia Keys, sang “Crazy Is As Crazy Does.” Other artists on the project included Pressure with “Who You Are,” Perfect with “The People We Are,” and Lloyd Brown, a UK reggae artist, with “Get It Right.” Hempress Sativa, known for her powerful lyrics, performed “Still Surviving.” Bobby Hustle brought “Chatty Mouth,” and Midnite, a roots reggae band from the Virgin Islands, delivered “I People.” The project also included the “Junction Riddim Instrumental” by Lustre Kings Productions. Looking back, the Junction Riddim project in 2014 connected new voices with classic reggae rhythms, helping to carry reggae’s message forward for a new generation.
