The Journey Riddim comes off like a straight-up 2010 roots-leaning juggling with enough polish to keep the bounce moving, all warm bass, clipped drums, and that steady forward motion the title suggests. Jan Bigs and Son Production line up a tidy spread of voices here, with Gyptian’s “Trodding On” and Erup’s “Dont Meck It Reach To Far” giving the project some of its sharpest pull, while Nesbeth’s “Cant Waist My Time” and Ras Penco’s “Life A Nod Bed A Rose” keep the conscious tone locked in. Anthony Q, Dainjah and Nazzle, Italee and Bitta Ras, and Singer Jah fill out the set without cluttering it, and the instrumental itself sits right in the middle of the package, tying the whole thing back to the same patient, road-walking groove.
