Jam Dam Riddim – Buss It Up And Kdanss Productions

Out of the French Caribbean-linked dancehall circuit that fed a lot of compact 2013 riddims, Jam Dam comes in sharp and stripped-down, with Buss It Up and Kdanss Productions keeping the focus on eight short cuts rather than any grand concept. The set moves with a quick, no-nonsense pulse, and the lineup leans heavily on voices already connected to the production camp, with Coolytop turning up across the riddim as the through-line. Don Tippa’s “Bubble” is the obvious anchor here, especially with that European reach he was building around the same period, while Younggy’s “Born Ready” and Mr Ice’s “Fight To Be Free” keep the tone from flattening out. It’s a tidy snapshot of that era’s Francophone dancehall energy, with Sayan’ closing things out on “Tchek An Vybe” and leaving the riddim on a tight, clipped final note.
