Buffaloo Records’ Jah Message Riddim sits squarely in the label’s 2015 catalogue, and it leans into a warm roots groove rather than anything flashy: steady drums, patient guitar chops and a message-first mood that lets the singers do the talking. Andrew Sloley turns up twice, with “Flirty Flirty” and “Nah Left De Girls Dem, ” while Buckey Ranks’ “Next Door Neighbour” and Cassie B’s “In Jah Name” keep the conscious tone moving; the one proper instrumental break comes from Buffaloo himself on “Jah Message (Dub), ” which gives the riddim a cleaner, stripped-back pass. Hughie Izachaar and Ayshamar’s title cut pushes the spiritual side hard, and the project closes out with 14 tracks in all, including cuts from Glen Sloley, Ras Indian and Tony T.
