JAH GUIDANCE 1980-1984
Jah Guidance 1980-1984 Overview
This collection brings together some of reggae’s most respected voices from the early 1980s. Sugar Minott, known for his hit “Good Thing Going,” delivers the heartfelt “Heart Breaker.” Toyan, a popular deejay of the time, brings his unique style to “Spar With Me.” Johnny Osbourne, who found international success with “Buddy Bye,” shines on “Too Sexy.” The Wailing Soul, famous for their classic album “Fire House Rock,” offer two tracks: “See Baba Joe” and “Take We Back.” Ranking Trevor, a pioneer of the deejay style, is featured with “Yard Oh.” Other artists in this set include Jennifer Laura with “You’re My Life,” Little John with “United We Stand Divided We Fall” and “All Who Gone,” and Billy Boy O with “Scandal.” Each performer brings a different energy, but all stay true to the deep roots of reggae. The reggae track base for these songs was built during a time when the music stayed close to its core sound. The focus was on steady rhythms, strong bass, and percussion that made people want to dance. These tracks were recorded with the same spirit that made 1980s reggae so influential. The sound is vintage but feels alive, perfect for both radio and sound system sessions. This collection is a real part of reggae’s legacy from that golden era.
