J.A LUV RIDDIM produced by ADDIS RECORD 2012
J.A Luv Overview
In 2012, a roots reggae project arrived that left a mark on the year’s music. The project’s journey began in the studio, where the dub cut was carefully shaped by ADDIS RECORD, a sound system producer known for a deep respect for vinyl culture. ADDIS RECORD, based in Europe, has been active since the early 2000s and is recognized for blending classic reggae warmth with modern production. The dub version started as a raw instrumental, with each layer crafted for clarity and power. ADDIS RECORD’s approach was hands-on, using analog equipment to keep the sound warm and full. The riddim was then brought to life by a select group of artists, each adding their own style and message. Perfect, with his song Inna Your Speakers, brought a sharp delivery and conscious lyrics. Perfect is widely known for the hit Hand Cart Bwoy, which made waves in reggae circles. Thriller U contributed Sweet Jamaica, a track that highlights his smooth vocal style. Thriller U is celebrated for his work in the late 1980s and has a strong reputation for romantic reggae songs. Cali P’s Simple Things In Life added a modern, uplifting touch. Daddy Rings joined with Active, showing his roots credentials—he is also known for his work with Gentleman on the song Jah Ina Yuh Life. Terry Ganzie’s Stand Up & Fight brought energy and a call for resilience. Other voices on the riddim included Triba with Broken Hearted, Geoffrey Star & Chai with We Are, and Poly Famous with The Girl For Me. The project stands as a reminder of 2012’s rich reggae roots, shaped by careful production and strong performances.
