Out of Jamaica’s 2005 dancehall run, Ivan Riddim lands as a broad, voice-heavy juggling from Minor7flat5 Productions, with Al Pancho, Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Capleton, Lutan Fyah, Turbulence, Vybz Kartel and Wayne Marshall all taking a turn on the cut. The title track gets a full producer version, and the extra raw and sweet instrumentals point to a release that was meant to live both in the dance and in the selectors’ boxes. “Do What You Want, ” “Straight A, ” and “Livin Alright” are the names that jump out first, with Lutan Fyah’s “Idiot Thing” and Turbulence’s “Too Much Killing” keeping the message side sharp. Andreas “Brotherman” Christopherson handled the production, and the riddim clocks in with 14 tracks across 13 artists.
