Intention Riddim (2020) – Attomatic Records

Intention Riddim arrived in 2020 from Attomatic Records and Dan Sky, a Mobay-linked production team that had already built a name around modern dancehall and the 6ix wave. By the time this juggling landed, Attomatic’s lane was firmly in street dancehall, with a catalogue that connects to names like Squash and Chronic Law and to the hard-edged, current sound that has dominated the genre in recent years.

The riddim itself moves with a clipped, muscular bounce rather than a glossy crossover feel. It leaves space for the vocals, but the drum pattern keeps a steady forward push, giving the songs a tense, reflective energy. The mood sits between victory talk and survival talk, which is why the title feels apt: these cuts circle blessing, pressure, self-reliance, and the need to keep moving.

Squash opens strongly with “Do This Mi Self, ” a fitting statement from one of the most visible voices in the 6ix-era dancehall conversation. Chronic Law brings a more inward angle on “Count My Blessings, ” and that cut fits his reputation for pain-aware, spiritually shaded writing. Daddy 1’s “It Nuh New To Us” and Rebel Sixx’s “Cya Done” keep the project rooted in that same militant, streetwise register, while Zizi, Takeova, Roxxie, T’Jean, Qrush, and N3z each add their own variation on perseverance and self-definition.
