I-Rob Riddim (2005) – Ward 21 Productions

Ward 21’s I-Rob Riddim lands squarely in that mid-2000s dancehall zone where the rhythm does the heavy lifting, with a clipped, muscular swing that leaves room for voice and attitude. Anthony B’s “Blue Mountain Peak” and Elephant Man’s “The Shotta Code” both ride it with different energies, while Spragga Benz and Voicemail keep the cut moving in a way that feels very much of its moment; Ward 21 even double up with Bounty Killer on “Badda Dan Dat, ” which is a nice flash of extra pressure on the riddim. The production team had already built a reputation for sharp, forward-leaning dancehall work by then, and this set keeps that same punchy feel throughout. The 2005 release closes with the version cut, “I-Rob, ” and pulls in eight vocal tracks around it.
