I Q Riddim – Born Music

In 2007, Born Music cut the I Q Riddim into a busy dancehall snapshot, with Beenie Man’s Know Yourself, Mr Lexx’s Phone Pest and Vybz Kartel’s Slide In giving the set three very different flashes of personality over the same steering wheel. The rhythm itself leans into that late-2000s Kingston bounce — sharp, stripped back, and made for DJs to work quickly through the switch-ups — while Lukie D’s Lap Dance and Delly Ranks’ First Time push it toward the cheekier, more streetwise side. Born Music keeps the cast moving without overloading any one voice, and even the one-off version cut has its place, as if the whole thing was meant to keep the dance tuned in to a single pulse.
