HIRE RIDDIM PART 1 – TALLAWAH PRODUCTIONS 2013
Hire Overview
In 2020, roots reggae was still alive and strong. One important release that year was the Hire Riddim, which first appeared in 2013 but found new life and meaning as selectors brought it back into rotation. The riddim’s foundation was deep, with heavy bass and classic one-drop drums, showing the true spirit of roots reggae. Compared to other roots drops of its era, Hire Riddim stood out for its smooth melodies and gentle, conscious vibe. While many riddims from the 2010s leaned towards modern sounds or digital production, Hire Riddim kept the roots tradition clear and simple. Three artists gave the riddim its unique voice. Stranjah Miller delivered “Dem A Run,” bringing his strong, conscious lyrics. Stranjah Miller is known for his work across Europe and his song “Dem A Run” is a favorite among roots selectors for its message. Bandulu’s “You Neva Know” added a different flavor. Bandulu is respected in the reggae community for his unique style and powerful delivery. Sadek Lennox sang “Fi Mi Mama,” a heartfelt tribute that touched listeners with its emotion. Each artist brought their own style, making the riddim rich and full of replay value. Selectors played a big role in keeping Hire Riddim alive, choosing it for its deep message and solid roots sound. The producer, whose identity is not widely known, crafted a riddim that balanced old-school roots with freshness. Through 2020, this roots drop helped keep reggae’s message clear and strong.
