HIGHWAY RIDDIM produced by BAGHDAD RECORDS 2022
Highway Overview
The making of the Highway Riddim started in a small Kingston studio. The bashment arranger wanted something fresh but still true to dancehall roots. He brought together a team of musicians and DJs, mixing old-school drum patterns with new digital sounds. The energy in the studio was high, with everyone trying out ideas and pushing each other to go further. BAGHDAD RECORDS took the lead on this project. The label is known in Jamaica for bringing out bold, streetwise music. They have a reputation for working with both new and established artists, and their releases often get strong streaming numbers on platforms like YouTube and Spotify. BAGHDAD RECORDS has helped shape the sound of modern dancehall, and Highway Riddim is one of their standout projects from 2022. The riddim featured some of the hottest voices in the scene. Daddy1 came in strong with “All Night.” He’s known for his hit “Custom” and is part of the 6ixx crew, which helped him break out in 2019. Roxxie added a different flavor with “Deceptive,” showing her skills as one of the rising female artists in the genre. Gold Gad’s track “Zone Out” brought his signature style—he’s known for his viral hit “Client Convo.” Badgettin joined Daddy1 on “All Night,” giving the song extra energy. Kandie D'Jambajan’s “Compatible” stood out with catchy hooks and a smooth flow. Looking back, Highway Riddim kept dancehall moving forward in 2022. It captured the rebellious spirit of the time and brought people together on the dancefloor. The riddim blended the past and present, proving that dancehall is always alive and changing.
