WMG Lab keeps the vibe rooted in herb-conscious talk and streetwise everyday struggle, so names like I Lyrikal on “My Life, ” Jah Mercy on “Freedom Fighters, ” and Kiho Kolor on “Free Up The Herbs” sit comfortably beside the rougher edge of Ras Lnt’s “Quick Fi Catch A Badmind” and Real Ryder’s “Hustle and Flow. ” There’s a nice contrast between the chant-heavy, cannabis-forward cuts and the harder talking pieces, which gives the riddim a bit more movement than a straight message record.
