HARD KILLA RIDDIM produced by MORRIS CODE PRODUCTIONS 2011
Hard Killa Overview
Back in 2011, the Hard Killa Riddim selector’s mix was the heartbeat of late-night dancehall parties. The journey began in Kingston’s small studios, where MORRIS CODE PRODUCTIONS shaped a new sound for the dance. Known for pushing dancehall’s boundaries, the label had already made waves with their earlier riddim projects and was building a reputation for clean, powerful mixes and high replay value. Sound engineer Ricardo “Sonic” Brown was the man behind the boards. His sharp ear brought out the punch in every drum and the brightness in every vocal, giving the riddim its signature energy. Action set the tone with “Di Shell Dung,” a track that had partygoers moving from the first beat. Acyd Reign followed with “Thing Dem Rise,” showing the lyrical fire that earned him a loyal fanbase. Chinsu’s “Never Touch Di Road Yet” became an anthem, especially after his earlier hit “Money Talk” brought him into the spotlight. Cv Aka Da Villain’s “Brain Fragment A Fly” and Draxx’s “Eagle Fly” added darker, deeper vibes to the mix. Each artist brought their own style, but together, they created a sequence that selectors loved to spin. Even now, when the Hard Killa Riddim plays, memories of 2011’s dancehall nights come rushing back—loud, bright, and unforgettable.
