GULLY RIDDIM produced by DON CORLEON RECORDS 2006
Gully Overview
The Gully Riddim compilation brought together some of dancehall’s most exciting voices in 2006. The set featured tracks that quickly became staples in dancehall parties, with each artist bringing their own style to the energetic riddim. Alaine’s “Hurry” stood out for its catchy melody and smooth delivery, while Assassin brought sharp lyrics to “Mouth.” Bling Dawg contributed two songs, “Knock Knock” and “Love Yuh Body Bad,” both filled with his signature swagger. Buju Banton added his unmistakable voice to “Gal Fi Get.” By 2006, Buju Banton was already known worldwide, especially for his classic album “’Til Shiloh,” which helped make reggae and dancehall popular in new markets. Capleton, a veteran in the genre, offered both “Hit Maker” and “Wah Dis.” Capleton is known for his powerful stage presence and hits like “Tour,” which reached international audiences. Hallow Point delivered raw energy on “Cold Like Ice” and “Marrow Fly.” Munga rounded out the set with “In Da Streets,” adding his own flavor to the riddim. The mastermind behind the project was DON CORLEON RECORDS, led by producer Donovan “Don Corleon” Bennett. Don Corleon had already made his mark with other influential riddims, such as the “Drop Leaf Riddim,” which helped launch several artists’ careers. Gully Riddim became a key part of 2006’s dancehall playlists, showing the producer’s skill at bringing together top talent and fresh sounds.
