Groove Theory Riddim – Bassink

Groove Theory has that bright, mid-tempo Crop Over charge you’d expect from BASSink, all clean percussion and a bounce that leaves room for the vocals to cut through. Lil Rick’s “Gym Instructor” is the one that jumps out first, with Patrice Roberts’ “On De Low” sliding in behind it in a way that keeps the party feel moving without getting sloppy, while Biggie Irie and Ricardo Drue add their own sharp angles to the same frame. BASSink, the Barbadian production house led by Dwain “Dwaingerous” Antrobus, had this one out on June 16, 2015, with five tracks total, and it feels tailor-made for the height of the season, just under 15 minutes all told.
