Granny Riddim – RAS

Granny Riddim, produced by Phillip Burrell for RAS in 1987, is a tight two-track set from the late-80s dancehall era with Frankie Paul on Don’t Pressure Me and Pinchers on Granny. Burrell’s name is tied to a long run of crucial Jamaican productions, and here he keeps the arrangement lean while letting the vocal cuts carry the weight. With only two versions, the release feels stripped down and focused, more like a sharp single-riddim showcase than a crowded compilation, and both artists bring plenty of character to it.
