Ghana Step Riddim – L/R Stardust Label

Out of Kingston’s early-2010s dancehall churn, Ghana Step Riddim catches the ear with a sharp, digital pulse and a roster that moves from street talk to swagger without lingering too long in one mood. Ryan Oneil’s “Gwaan Suh, ” Advance’s “Street Sweepa, ” and Pallaso’s “No Way” give it some of the strongest hooks, while Jah Shawn’s “Born Clean” and Derrick Parker’s “Tuff Than a Rock” keep the energy brash and heavyweight. Raymond Chambers, working as L and R Stardust, was still establishing the label’s identity here, and this project reads like one of those first statements where the production is lean, clipped, and aimed squarely at the dance. It sits near the start of the L and R Stardust catalogue and points toward the later riddims that kept the imprint in circulation.
