GENERAL RIDDIM produced by GROOVE & A QUARTER RECORDS 2007
General Overview
In 2007, reggae fans were treated to a special studio creation known as General Riddim. This roots riddim came together through careful planning and teamwork in the studio. The music arranger aimed for a warm, melodic sound that would blend classic reggae vibes with energy for the dancefloor. Every instrument and vocal was chosen to support this vision. The project was led by producer GROOVE, working with A QUARTER RECORDS. Together, they had already built a reputation in the reggae world for quality roots productions. A QUARTER RECORDS was known for supporting both new talent and veteran artists, helping to keep the reggae scene lively and fresh. On General Riddim, three respected artists came together. Brinsley Forde, famous as the lead singer of Aswad, brought his smooth voice to the track "Bubblin." Forde’s career includes hits like "Don’t Turn Around" with Aswad, and he is known for his soulful delivery. Lloyd Brown and Tippa Irie teamed up for "Stress." Lloyd Brown is a respected UK reggae singer with a long list of albums, and Tippa Irie is known for his fast chat style and the hit "Hello Darling." Their collaboration added both energy and lyrical skill to the riddim. General Riddim quickly became a go-to track in reggae sets in 2007, and it remains a cultural gem from that era.
