Gangsta Law Overview

In 2007, the Gangsta Law Riddim brought a deep roots sound to reggae lovers. This compilation stood out for its strong one drop base, which is the heartbeat of roots reggae. The one drop here is steady and warm, different from the digital and faster dancehall riddims that were popular in the same era. While other compilations mixed in electronic sounds, Gangsta Law Riddim kept the classic reggae feel alive. Many respected artists brought their voices to this project. Black Dillinger delivered the song America, showing his unique style. Caster’s Nuff Work added energy to the mix. Ginjah, known for his uplifting track Never Lost My Way, sang Bright Smile on this riddim. Lady G, a dancehall pioneer famous for her hit Nuff Respect, performed Gangster Way. Luciano, who has been called “The Messenjah” and has released dozens of albums, contributed Ransom. Other artists on the riddim included Lutan Fyah with No Turning Back, Michael Rose with The Real Man, Natty King with The Calling, Natural Black with In This Judgement, and Queen Ifrica with Stop Genocide.
