G String Riddim – Colin Fat Records 1997
G String Overview
In 1997, dancehall music was full of energy and excitement. Parties and yard sessions were the best places to hear the latest riddims and songs. The G String Riddim became a favorite backdrop at these events, matching the lively mood of the dancehall scene at the time. The tape featured strong tracks from popular artists. G String’s “Instrumental” set the foundation, giving DJs and selectors a solid beat to work with. General B, who is known for being part of the Monster Shack Crew and for his solo hits, brought his style to “Eat From The Garden.” Ghost, recognized for his smooth singing voice and hits like “Bodyguard,” added “Gal A Nuh Sweetie” to the mix, giving the session a melodic touch. Monster Shack Crew, a group that included General B, Roundhead, and Ghost, delivered “Dem Time Deh.” This crew was well known for their teamwork and catchy songs in the late 1990s. Roundhead, also a key member of Monster Shack Crew, performed “First Class,” showing his unique flow. The G String Riddim session tape was produced by Lloyd “John John” James Jr., who is known for working on many successful dancehall projects.
