FROM CREATION RIDDIM produced by S. Martin for BLACKER DREAD PRODUCTIONS 1998
From Creation Overview
In 1998, reggae fans were treated to a special album collection built around the From Creation Riddim. This riddim, brought to life by a talented culture arranger, was designed to connect the energy of modern artists with the timeless flow of classic reggae. The journey began in the studio, where the warm, rolling rhythm was carefully arranged to suit both seasoned voices and fresh styles. S. Martin, working for BLACKER DREAD PRODUCTIONS, produced the project. BLACKER DREAD PRODUCTIONS was already known in the reggae world for supporting authentic sounds and pressing quality vinyl. Martin’s touch kept the music true to roots reggae, while also making it fresh for new listeners. The collection shines with five powerful tracks, each performed by a respected artist. Sandeeno opens with “Borrowed Time,” delivering thoughtful lyrics over the steady riddim. Don Carlos, a founding member of Black Uhuru and known for his solo hit “Laser Beam,” brings his classic voice to “From Creation.” Everton Blender, famous for his uplifting song “Lift Up Your Head,” adds “Rastaman,” giving the album a spiritual edge. The journey continues with Junior Reid’s “Jah Messengers.” Reid, who once led Black Uhuru and scored a solo hit with “One Blood,” adds his unmistakable style. Finally, Mykal Rose, known for his Grammy-winning work with Black Uhuru, closes the set with “Be Yourself.” From Creation Riddim stands out as a highlight of reggae in 1998, blending respected voices with a strong, unifying rhythm that still moves crowds today.
