Free Nights Riddim – Down Sound Records

Down Sound Records usually leans hard into dancehall pressure, so Free Nights Riddim comes off more laid-back and rootsy than the label’s rougher gear. The cut has a clean reggae swing with warm bass and a patient, night-time pulse rather than a big club push, which suits Don Husky’s “Meditation” and Nature’s reflective “Say What You Need To Say” nicely. Rage’s “No More Free Nights” is the darkest turn on the set, giving the riddim a little more edge without breaking its calm flow. With only three vocal tracks, there’s no filler here, just a compact 2013 release that keeps the arrangement tight and lets the final track close things out on a heavier note.
