By 2012, dancehall was still leaning hard on the sharp, street-facing riddim formula, and Freaky Gyal Riddim Part 2 lands right in that pocket with a lean eight-song lineup and a cast that knows how to work a raw groove. Busy Signal’s “P-Song” and Mavado’s “Wine And Go Pan Yu Head” give the set its biggest push, while Vybz Kartel takes three cuts — “Freaky Gyal Part. 2, ” “Gimmi Now, ” and “Slow Motion” — and keeps the energy taut and cocky over DJ Dain Records’ driving, party-minded production. Booz The Bizzle, Jinyus and Shaneo, and Prince Zimboo fill out the frame without crowding it, which keeps the focus on the chant-heavy hooks and loose, bashment swing. The release runs eight tracks in all, with Kartel clearly getting the heaviest share of the spotlight.
