FOUNDATION RIDDIM produced by EVIDENCE MUSIC 2023
Foundation Overview
The Foundation Riddim album brings together the energy of Jamaican sound system culture with the message of modern roots reggae. In sound system dances, selectors play riddims—instrumental tracks that many different singers and DJs use to create their own versions. Foundation Riddim fits right into this tradition, offering a solid groove that selectors can use to uplift crowds and keep the dance moving. The project is produced by EVIDENCE MUSIC, a Swiss label known for working with both reggae veterans and new voices. Since its launch in 2013, EVIDENCE MUSIC has built a reputation for quality productions and streaming success, especially in Europe. Their careful approach helps bring out the best in each artist on this collection. On Foundation Riddim, some of reggae’s most respected voices come together. Capleton, famous for his hit “Jah Jah City,” delivers “Rat Race” with his signature fiery style. Luciano, known for the classic album “Where There Is Life,” sings “Have Mercy,” blending deep roots with smooth vocals. George Nooks, who found crossover success with “God Is Standing By,” contributes two tracks: “To The Foundation” and “Get Myself Together,” both showing his soulful approach. Natural Black’s “Trying” and Turbulence’s “Hail King Negus” add more layers, each artist bringing their own message and melody. The album also features strong tracks from Chuck Fenda (“Dilute Dem”), Junior Kelly (“Search Your Heart”), Anthony Cruz (“U Got It Bad”), and Chrisinti (“My Resolution”). Together, these songs echo the spirit of 2023 roots reggae, mixing culture, message, and powerful rhythms for today’s listeners and selectors.
