From Chitungwiza, Zimbabwe, Daclama’s Float Riddim carries that local dancehall pulse with a groovy bassline, glossy synth stabs and a proper communal feel, the kind of cut that lets the beat do as much talking as the voices. Clama Matara produced it at MIO Studios, and the lineup leans hard into Zimbabwean dancehall’s native-language fire, with Bizzy Dee on “Pandinokuona, ” Jnr Fire on “Mwana Wangauri Kupi, ” and the Sean Paul-assisted “Try We” giving the set a sharper edge. There’s a lot of movement here, but the riddim’s pocket stays steady and slippery, more cruising than charging. With 16 tracks and a clean instrumental tucked in at the end, Float sits neatly alongside Daclama’s other 2012-era output as a release that’s aimed squarely at the sound system and the local scene it came from.
