Feelings Riddim – El Libro Records

Cool, sparse groove. El Libro Records keeps the Feelings Riddim moving with a stripped-back dancehall pulse and just five cuts, which gives the whole thing a tight, unhurried feel. Kyro Matic’s “Mama Don’t Cry” and Rappa Scorpion’s “Success” sit right in that pocket, while Upptimyst gets a second swing with both the clean and raw takes of “Turn Me On, ” a nice little nod to how the rhythm shifts with a different vocal edge. Jev 1’s “Protect Me” rounds out the set, and the release landed on July 30, 2021, so it sits right in that run of compact, digitally minded riddims from the era. A quick one, but it leaves its mark.
