With only three cuts on it, Farin Riddim plays like a tight little 2008 dancehall showcase, and the pull here is the contrast between Andi Ites’ “Balance Fya We Blaze, ” Vybz Kartel’s “Crotches Morning, ” and Lexxus’ “Some Gal. ” The rhythm leans into that raw, compressed late-2000s sound — bashy drums, a heavy low end, and just enough skank to keep the vocals bouncing without softening the edge. Kartel’s cut sounds like the obvious magnet, but Andi Ites brings the fire early and Lexxus closes the set with a lean, patter-heavy turn that keeps the whole thing grounded in street-level dancehall. By the time “Some Gal” lands, the riddim has done its job: three voices, one hard backdrop, no wasted motion.
