Family Pride Riddim – Bonner Cornerstone Music

In 2016, when roots-reggae juggling was still leaning hard on conscious lyrics and family-run labels, Bonner Cornerstone Music lined up Family Pride Riddim as a compact seven-song set built around unity and uplift. The project gathers Pliers, Spanner Banner, Richie Spice, Shav A, Snatcha Lion and Black Shepherd, with the Bonner brothers’ own instrumental version sitting in the middle like a marker of the label’s sound. There’s a ceremonial, mid-tempo feel to it: steady drum and bass, warm guitar skanks, and enough space in the arrangement for each singer to land cleanly. Pliers’ “Happy We” and Spanner Banner’s “Miracle God” carry the most familiar weight, while Richie Spice’s appearance on the mix ties the whole thing back to the Bonner family circle. It plays like a tidy roots session with a patient bassline and a restrained, almost hymn-like vocal approach.
