FAITH RIDDIM produced by MAD DOG RECORDS 1999
Faith Overview
In 1999, a new dancehall riddim started making waves at every bashment event. The Faith Riddim was created by a talented beatmaker whose vision was to blend raw yard energy with catchy grooves. The riddim’s journey began in a small Kingston studio, where the sound was shaped to fit the dancefloors. Soon, MAD DOG RECORDS took notice. This label, known for pushing the dancehall sound in the late 1990s, had already made a name with several street anthems and was famous for its focus on party-ready tracks. MAD DOG RECORDS brought together some of the scene’s most exciting voices for the project. Born Jamericans and Spragga Benz teamed up for “Go Girl,” bringing a unique mix of reggae and hip hop. Lady G, a pioneer for women in dancehall, joined forces with Mr. Vegas, who was riding high after his hit “Heads High,” for “Hotta Than The Rest.” Faith delivered the “Version,” giving DJs a space to shine. Hawkeye’s “Ooh Ha Ha” and Mr Chicken’s “Hot Gal” kept the energy high. Mr. Vegas returned solo with “Hands Up,” while groups like Scare Dem Crew with “Girls Everyday,” TOK’s “Mona Lisa,” and Tony Curtis with “Think Twice” rounded out the release. Faith Riddim captured the spirit of 1999, keeping the dancehall scene lively and unforgettable.
