Alizés Records keeps the focus tight on this 2013 Expression Riddim, a dancehall set that runs deep with 17 tracks and a mix of names leaning from raw newcomers to more familiar voices. The groove has that mid-2010s digital pulse, more percussive than glossy, so the singers and deejays have to work the pocket rather than ride a big melody. Asaliah Gad gets two turns with “No Worries, ” while Dan Marcus, Larnak Mc and Litt’L Young each push different shades of attitude across the riddim. The sharpest moment comes late, when Wayne Marshall and Natel cut through on “Mi Naah Sell Out, ” giving the project a more seasoned edge before Tod closes it out on the instrumental.
