The festival groove that took over 2010’s fetes was born in the studio with a fresh, upbeat energy. The soca craftsman behind this sound wanted to mix the lively feeling of carnival with a new, modern touch. The producer, known as VARIOUS ARTISTS, had already made a name in the Caribbean music scene. This producer is known for bringing together big names and fresh talent, and has worked with several labels to push soca and dancehall into new spaces. On this riddim, three standout artists gave their own flavor. Beenie Man, often called the “King of Dancehall,” brought his song “Temper.” Beenie Man is famous for hits like “Who Am I (Sim Simma)” and has won a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album. His voice and energy fit perfectly with the festival vibe. Machel Montano, a true soca giant, joined with the track “Untitled.” Machel is known for his powerful stage shows and has won the Road March title in Trinidad and Tobago’s Carnival several times.
