Dream House Riddim (2014) – Pure Music

Pure Music kept Dream House Riddim short and sharp in late 2014, and the set feels like a snapshot of Delly Ranx operating in both artist and producer mode. The label name behind it is Pure Music Productions, the imprint Ranx has used for years, and this release lands in the same busy stretch that saw him pushing several riddims through the dancehall circuit that year.

The riddim has a bright, mid-tempo dancehall pulse with a smooth, rolling groove rather than anything hard-edged or militant. It leaves room for melody, which suits the line-up: Capital D opens with “Selfie, ” a cut that rides the track in a light, playful way; Delly Ranx follows with “Best Friend Gone, ” bringing his familiar singjay phrasing and a more personal tone; and “Under Mi Sensi” from ZJ Liquid brings the party-life energy he has built around radio, selecting and recording. The closing collaboration, “On The Rise” by Ras Charmer and Delly Ranx, gives the riddim its most complete duet moment, pairing Charmer’s rootsy delivery with Ranx’s seasoned hook sense.

Ras Charmer is a Jamaican singer known for his “Mama” breakout and steady festival presence, while ZJ Liquid, born Michael Brissett, is one of Jamaica’s more versatile media figures, moving between selector, producer, MC and recording artist. That mix of voices gives Dream House Riddim a local, scene-aware feel without overloading it. It is a compact four-cut juggling, but each song lands with a different angle on the same breezy groove.
