Dot Com Riddim – V1 Label

Dot Com Riddim comes out of the early-2000s dancehall wave that was heavy on digital sparkle and crowd-friendly hook lines, with V1 Label and producer Vasco Carney, also known as Computer Paul, steering the board. The 2001 juggling sits in that era where the sound is bright, clipped, and built for fast reloads, with a girls-and-bling theme running through much of the lineup.

Capleton’s “Log On Di Girls” is the headline cut, and it lands with the kind of militant energy he was already known for, while Sizzla’s “De Girls Dem Mi Love” brings a smoother, singjay warmth to the same subject. Spragga Benz, Assassin and Red Square turn “More Girls” into a busier crew tune, and Frisco Kid’s “Girls Spot” keeps the subject playful and streetwise. Danny English’s “Go Gal” and Delly Ranks’ “Girls Shocking Out” push the juggling further into dancefloor territory, where the rhythm’s bounce does as much work as the lyrics.

The riddim is not only about the girls tunes, though. Mega Banton’s “Another Hype” gives it more edge, while Nana McLean’s “Love In Your Heart” and Abijah’s “Healing Time” soften the overall picture with more conscious and melodic tones. Jah Thunder’s “Sweet Reggae” and the appearance of younger and lesser-known voices such as Stevie Face and D’Bad Dawg show how V1 used the riddim as a broad showcase, not just a star vehicle.

What makes Dot Com hold together is that clean, early-digital pulse: crisp, lively, and tailor-made for the dance. It captures a moment when dancehall could move from rude-boy energy to party chatter without losing momentum.
