A lean seven-track dancehall set, Dont Cry Riddim leans on a handful of voices rather than a crowded cast, with Sadekie Lennox doubling up on “Belly Buss (Raw)” and “Feel Good” while Candy Price, Cp Inc, Dc Stuban, Gavano and Villa Flamez each get a slot to work the rhythm. The production from True Blue Records and VP Music keeps the focus on the songs themselves, and the sequencing plays like a tight one-riddim showcase instead of a sprawling compilation. “Belly Buss (Raw)” and “When I’m Gone” give it two of the sharper turns, one more patois-heavy and gritty, the other sounding a little more reflective.
