Discernment Riddim – Jusa Dementor

Kevin Lylod’s “New York Jamaica” is the hook that pulls you into Discernment Riddim, with ZJ Liquid riding alongside him and setting the tone for a 2013 dancehall set that moves between party cuts and cautionary songs. Jusa Dementor keeps the various voices—Abraham, Donteh, Tesh, Valene Nedd, Vision and Machu Ezra—moving over a tough, mid-tempo groove, and the closing “Discernment Riddim Version” with Dj Flammez gives the project a proper instrumental finish. The sequence leans from the more playful “Rock My World” and “Wine Fi Ya Man” into moodier turns like “Fake Friend” and “Rather Be Alone, ” so the riddim never sits in one pocket for long.
