Mid-2010s dancehall was full of hard little one-drop workouts like this, and Different Medz Riddim keeps that pressure up with five cuts from Black Wizz, Calanist, Entry, K Complexx and Too Fall, all riding a sharp Staaryzma Records production from 2015. Black Wizz’s “Boomarang” and Too Fall’s “Hustler Fi Lite” give the set its most memorable hooks, while Entry and K Complexx both lean into the title phrase “Different Medz” with the kind of chant-along delivery that sticks. The riddim has that stripped, street-level bounce that leaves plenty of room for the vocals, and the whole thing moves like a compact dancehall segment rather than a sprawling showcase.
