Bunji Garlin sets the pace on Dhola Riddim with “Wild Apache, ” which feels like the sharpest cut here: brisk, playful, and laced with that early-2000s Trinidad energy that sat halfway between dancehall roughness and soca bounce. Kerwin Du Bois follows with “Dhola, ” bringing a smoother, more melodic touch, while Surinder Shinda’s “Dhola Ve Dhola (Original)” pulls the whole thing back toward the song’s older folk-rooted core. It’s a tiny three-track release, but that’s part of the charm; in 2003, Caribbean dance music was full of these compact crossover moments, where Trinidad voices and older South Asian material could sit on the same rhythm and still feel natural.
