NEW WAR RIDDIM 2003

New War Riddim comes off more like a stripped-down bashment call to arms than the glossy, hook-heavy dancehall sets some early-2000s productions were chasing. Dropped in 2003, it runs six cuts deep and keeps the pressure on with Diamond’s “Pull Up Sa, ” Factor Will and Levy Dread’s “Bomboclaat, ” and Iron J’s “Bye Batty” doing most of the talking. The language across the lineup is blunt and confrontational, which fits the title perfectly, but the sequence also feels deliberate: each tune follows the last like another shot in the argument, with no space wasted on detours. That tight ordering gives the riddim a rough, street-level urgency from the opening bars to Ras Mozaya’s closing “Rivire. ”
