Pure Music Productions’ 2015 Detergent Riddim sits in the producer’s run of sharp, stripped-back dancehall juggling, and this one keeps the focus tight with just four cuts. The vibe is more functional than flashy: a clean, clipped groove with enough bounce for the deejays to work, the sort of riddim that leaves space for personality rather than dressing itself up too much. Da Professor opens with “Nyamatan, ” Delly Ranx brings the sly chat on “Chatta Box, ” and Knock Shizzle’s “Pussy Watchman” gives the project its naughtier edge.
