DE THROWBACK RIDDIM (SOCA) – WIZ RECORDS 2015
De Throwback Overview
Wiz Records played a big part in shaping the sound of soca in 2015. The label is known for bringing together top Caribbean artists and creating music that stands out during Carnival season. One of their memorable releases that year was De Throwback Riddim, which blended classic and modern island sounds. The riddim’s energetic base made it a favorite on the Carnival trucks, helping to set the mood for the festival’s biggest road marches. Benjai’s track on the riddim, "20-20," brought his signature style to the mix. Benjai is well known for his 2011 hit "Trini," which became a soca anthem and earned him fans across the Caribbean and beyond. On "20-20," he continued to show why he’s one of the genre’s most respected voices. Cassi also contributed with "Two Dumplin’." Cassi’s smooth delivery and catchy hooks made this song a standout on the riddim. His unique style added to the energy and fun that De Throwback Riddim was all about. Ricardo Drue and Blaxx teamed up for "Good Company." Ricardo Drue had already made waves with his hit "Vagabond" in 2014, while Blaxx was known for his powerful vocals and performances. Together, they brought lively vibes to the project, making "Good Company" a favorite for many Carnival fans. De Throwback Riddim from Wiz Records captured the spirit of Carnival 2015. Its infectious rhythms and star artists made sure it would always be remembered on the road.
