In 2006, dancehall parties were filled with energy and excitement. The bashment scene was alive with new riddims, and one project stood out that year. DEJAVU RECORDS, a label known for its focus on dancehall and reggae, produced a riddim that became a true yard classic. Sean Paul And Nina Sky teamed up for “Connection,” a track that brought together Sean Paul’s signature flow and Nina Sky’s smooth vocals. Sean Paul is famous for his Grammy-winning album “Dutty Rock,” and Nina Sky is well known for their hit “Move Ya Body.” Lumidee joined the project with “Ride With You.” She is best known for her 2003 hit “Never Leave You (Uh Oooh, Uh Oooh).” The remix of “Ride With You” also featured Craig T, a member of T.O.K. Other artists on the riddim included Chicken with “Timing,” Idonia with “Cars,” and Buju Banton with “Have It Fe Dem.” Buju Banton is respected worldwide for his powerful voice and songs like “Champion.” The riddim also included Pretty Boy’s “Call Me,” Voicemail’s “Girl,” and T.O.K’s “Do You Wanna.” All together, this project captured the true spirit of 2006 dancehall parties.
