Stainless Music and Capone Music came through in 2016 with Condition Riddim, a nine-track dancehall set that keeps its focus tight and its guest list trim, so the energy stays locked on the voices instead of the packaging. Dj Karim’s “Run It Red” with Sean Paul feels like the obvious pull here, sharp and radio-minded without losing the street edge, while Kabaka Pyramid’s “No Guns Round Here” tilts the rhythm toward something more conscious in the middle of all the flexing. Bling Dawg, Cregis, Don Yute and Franz Capone all get their moments too, and the whole thing has that clean, rolling pulse you’d expect from a production team that knows how to keep a dancehall cut moving, right down to the instrumental nod tucked into the sequence.
