COME ALONG RIDDIM produced by BLACK SCORPIO 1998
Come Along Overview
In 1998, reggae music still carried the smooth, rolling sound of rocksteady. This flow, which began in Jamaica in the late 1960s, was known for its steady rhythm and soulful melodies. Even as reggae evolved, the feeling of rocksteady stayed strong. That year, the Come Along Riddim brought together voices that showed reggae’s deep roots. Aaron Silk, known for his positive songs and as the younger brother of the late Garnet Silk, sang “Black Power.” His voice added a strong, uplifting message, following his tradition of conscious lyrics. Eddie Fitzroy, a respected singer with a career going back to the 1980s, performed “Come Along.” Fitzroy was known for songs like “Deep in Mi Culture,” and he often sang about cultural pride and social issues. Jah Mali’s “Left Nor Right” brought a calm, steady vibe to the riddim. Jah Mali is recognized for his roots reggae style and for working with producers like Donovan Germain. His smooth voice fit perfectly with the classic rhythm. Jazzwad, a talented musician and producer, delivered “Come Along Version.” Jazzwad is known for his work with artists like Capleton and for his skills in both live and studio settings. The man behind this project was BLACK SCORPIO, a legendary Jamaican producer and sound system owner. BLACK SCORPIO, also known as Maurice Johnson, started his label in the late 1970s and helped launch many careers in reggae and dancehall. His productions are known for their strong messages and quality sound.
