Chinkuzi Riddim – South Rakkas Crew

Chinkuzi pulls together ten cuts and a version, with Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Busy Signal, Capleton, Sizzla and Vybz Kartel giving the riddim plenty of weight in the mid-2000s dancehall lane. South Rakkas Crew, the Florida-based production unit behind a run of sharp digital sets, keeps the arrangement lean and hard-edged here, with a taut synthetic pulse that leaves room for the voicings to do the damage. Beenie Man’s “Jamaican Style” and Kartel’s “Good Buddy” sit near the front of the pack, while Capleton’s “Fire Man Anthem” brings the usual heat. Also known as Chinkuzi’s Revenge, the riddim came out in 2006 and moves with a clipped, forward-driving tempo, anchored by a dry bass pattern and spare drum programming.
