Chill Zone Riddim – Mxt Underground

Mxt Underground’s Chill Zone Riddim lands a little lighter on the eye than the name might suggest, but it still keeps that clean, compact dancehall pressure the label has been leaning into around this period. Taï J’s “Maximum” and Kreyolboy’s “Pretty Mama” give the set its sharpest hooks, while the standout group cut “Beni Yo” pushes the energy up with Justaman, Nnay and Sca trading off over a spare, driving groove; Tang’s “Telema” closes it out in the same tight frame. It’s a five-track project, released in August 2021, and the production stays lean and direct, with each cut hovering around the three-minute mark rather than stretching for more than it needs.
