Boombastic Riddim – Big Yard

Produced by Big Yard in 1995, Boombastic Riddim is best known for pairing Shaggy’s Mr. Boombastic with Merciless on Mavis, two of the release’s key cuts. The juggling has that bright mid-90s dancehall feel, with Shaggy’s crossover hit anchoring the set and Merciless bringing a tougher, chatty counterpoint. Big Yard, the label linked to Robert Livingston and Shaun Pizzonia, went on to turn out a long run of Jamaican hits, but this one remains one of its most recognizable early riddims.
